Puerto Princesa, Palawan: The Arrival

I want to share my short travel story in Palawan, Philippines. My first ever two weeks travel with my handsome cousin.

I have to  cut it to some parts, a lot of things happened day after day after day and sometimes it's already mixed altogether in my mind... lol. It's been a year but most experiences were still fresh that it seems like it was just yesterday.

And this is the first part. Hope you enjoy it.

The story started when my cousin asked me to come with him and travel two weeks in Palawan.

 Here it goes...! (Fingers crossed)

All my bags are packed and ready to fly in a busplane. We rode a taxi all the way to the airport. I was so innocent like a child inside the airport, I saw airplanes lifting up and landing behind a big window glass.I went to the washroom and texted my cousin, I left him in a coffee house. Here's what I told him. "Hey cousin, I saw big planes over here... Thanks for bringing me here!" He replied on his usual way...lol! "Where are you! It's time for our flight!" I don't know if he's mad or not. When I returned... he's still as nice as he was always been.

I was never afraid, my first flight is so exciting. Right there I realized that I am up for adventures. Excitement goes through my veins, tinggling all over my body. The plane started to lift up. I was like a kid, so curious and looks stupid at the same time. Then I felt so peaceful and relaxed when I saw those cottony clouds, colorful land and some parts of the sea. They were too small. It's real and this time I'm not watching movies or reading magazines. I remembered my childish dreams to bounce over the clouds and taste them because they look so yummy... lol! But these views are not only for real...! They're Awesome!

Our plane landed in Puerto Princessa after our 50mins flight. I'm not showing my cousin how I feel but that time my heart is jumping and dancing like crazy. The airport is small. And we had a good landing. I still closed my eyes before we touch the ground. I was surprised when he said that someone will pick us up from Koo's Guesthouse, our chosen place to stay for few nights located in Brgy. San Jose, Puerto Princesa. I was so astonished. I've never seen a tricycle so big that can handle 8 passangers. I was like a child in a fieldtrip... I want more surprises!

On our way to Koo's Guesthouse, my eyes were so big, I don't even want to wink, for a second. I realized, how can I be a complete stranger in my own country. I wasted years missing these opportunities, and I am riding the biggest tricycle I have never seen in my entire life. Stupid but true, was so amazed!

Then we arrived, finally, Koo's Native Filipino Guest House is a very cool place. We booked it from this website Native Filipino Guest House We booked it last year March 4, 2014 for only 850php. The owners were husband and wife, Josie and Koo, they were so nice and very accommodating. I like their company. They also gave me an eyedrop when I had an eye irritation. I like staying here, I feel so peaceful and relaxed. The sound of crickets everynight, birds singing in the morning, they were al music to my ears, calming my soul, very melodic. Staying here for few days is the best way to escape the noises, stresses and pollutions in the city. A very peaceful ambiance for everyone who seeks a real life vacation.

The Mall! When I first got in the airport, the first thing that came out of my mind is the mall, I am actually expecting a real big mall like SM Cities and Trinoma. But atleast I was thankful that time... There is a Mall! Yehey! Robinsons Place Palawan. It seems like this mall is in the heart of Puerto Princesa. Tourists won't have a hard time locating this mall.

Me and my cousin had fun here, though there were no starbucks nor J.co, we had a coffee at "Devine Sweets." We walked around the mall then my cousin bought a Sandugo Flops and he had me try eating using a knife and a fork, which really gave me a hard time. You know, I like cutting my food using a spoon haha! Very challenging!...lol! He bought some stuffs, shirts, shorts...etc. We had a lot of fun.

Then my cousin would like to have a city tour using a motorcycle, there are a lot of rental places for motorcycles in Puerto Princesa, we rented one for 500php. This is the most exciting tour. He likes driving so fast, he said that it's not fast enough but for me it is really fast, then I was shouting "Woooohhhooooo!!! FASTER!" funny...lol.!

To enjoy more ocean views in Puerto Princesa, we went to the baywalk.

A very clean and relaxing place. We sat for a while and enjoyed the view. Took some pictures as well. We almost forgot the scorching heat of the sun...

We both enjoyed the view. Wait until you see the other views we enjoyed in Palawan. These were just few of them and you'll be amazed!

Then I heard a guy yell "baluuuuutttt!!!" I called him "manong! Balut!" It was my big chance to watch my cousin eat balut hahahaha (evil laugh) Well, I myself don't eat the chick... so we shared the yellow part instead...

For those people who doesn't know what balut is... It is an ugly duckling fetus, as what other people describe it, some people call it The Egg of Darkness, the unborn chick, some places in the Philippines call it balot. But whatever people call it, I still like eating the yellow part and drinking the juice... But the chick... Never! So tiny and so pitiful, sometimes it breaks my heart that the chick inside that balut doesn't even know how it feels to be taken cared of, to be loved, and to be roasted and be eaten in the future! (sad face!) You can watch this video to learn more about balut! Haha..
Balut Video ...lol have fun!

We decided to visit one of the lighthouses in Puerto Princesa, we got lost so we decided to go back. On our way back, we almost had an accident, but my cousin handled the bike professionally, he made me wanna say WOW! With my eyes wide and sparkling! I must say, he's such a very good bike driver... Way the go!!! (smiling face)

We found a nail trap busted our bike's wheel. It looks like this --->

(I just drew this picture, I tried my best sorry but this is how I remember it... hihi)

I told him it was a manmade trap and he's not believing me. We called the motorcycle rental and they are not very accommodating, in short, they don't care. Well, it's quite an experience when I saw my cousin riding a bike being pulled by a tricycle using an electric cable. He was afraid that it might snap over his face...lol.

That goodhearted Filipino driver helped us in finding a shop where we can get our wheel vulcanized... Then we returned that wasted motorcyle to its owner after having our dinner. We were so tired and slept soundly in our rented guest house. We have to wake up early for our next tour the next day!

Thanks for reading...
